Roscioli NYC

Ate a la carte in main room upstairs (not downstairs, in the tasting room). Vibe: Very very cute, italian-market vibes. Cozy, small, only a few tables that host 4, the rest hold 2 max. Food: Good / Solid, but not incredible. My definition of Solid = Was very good, would eat it again if served, but wouldn't return for it or say it's a MUST order. Ate: 1- Tuna Crudo, Onion Foam, & Calabrian Chili Pepper (Solid) 2 - Radicchio Salad with Pine Nuts, & Fiore Sardo (Very good, very big / a bit too much radicchio for us, Note: has smokey a bit bacony flavor, which threw us off at first, as one of us is vegetarian and just wasn't expecting it, but was tasty none the less. Did confirm there is no meat in it at all), 3 - Carbonara (Just ok, the meat it it was either really fatty and undercooked or chewy and overcooked, the pasta / cheese / egg part was fine 4 - Fish of the day (Solid) 5 - Dessert: Almond cake (Gluten free - very good, imagine this would be incredible with a cappucino or espresso. Didn't pair well with the chocolate mousse they served with it, which was tasty on it's own but not with the almond cake) & Chocolate gelato (delicious - very dark, came with an cherry amaretto sauce on top)

After a few days in New York we felt the need for home flavors... they recommended this restaurant to us and with all honesty we must say that my family, my friends and I were amazed by the quality of the raw materials, the kindness of the staff led by a great Mattia... Welcoming, warm and well-kept location, a very respectable wine cellar. We opted for a tasting menu in which the ingredients and typical Italian dishes were enhanced: buttata, oil, bread schiacciata and mortadella, lasagna, carbonara, porchetta, parmigiana and desserts, all paired with excellent wines. The gluten-free service was excellent and impeccable, allowing us to live the same experience without "discomfort". We highly recommend anyone to live our experience. Thanks to all the staff.
