Rudy's Pizza Napoletana - Portland Street

We've been there a few times as it's good, it's nice and it's cheap, so what's not to like about it? Apart from that, they decided to add a gluten free base for gluten-intolerant customers from the 7th of november (overcoming what it seems to be an ancient belief, a tradition for proper italian pizzaiolos..."a gluten free pizza base?! what is next, pineapple on pizza??!" I guess some of them would think about it...), which was amazing for my girlfriend, as she has a Non Celiac Gluten Sensivity...and believe me, sometimes it's quite difficult to find a place for dinner which can cater for both of us. Yesterday, we happily went to the Rudy's in Portland Street ( which was, of course, our Rudy's of choice as it was the only one in town who offered this gf base)...and it turned out that they DON'T DO this gluten free base anymore. I know it was being just trialled but honestly...this is such a gross mistake; why denying the chance for people with dietary requirements to have a meal in your restaurant? Honestly guys I love your pizzas, the relaxed and laid back service but...why doing this? Was it not profitable enough? There's 3 Rudy's in town, why not keeping the GF base in at least one of them? Honestly I'm lost for words. We ended up having the meal, but she took a tablet for gluten digestion, which she doesn't like to do, so it would be great that the GF base were back on the menu. On the other side, the pizza and the service were as good as always but honestly, I hope you reconsider this as the fact that there is a GF base available for people with dietary requirements means the world for so many people. Fabulous restaurant and delicious food! We needed a dairy and gluten free pizza, and the staff here were super accommodating. The gf pizza crust was the absolute best we’d ever had!! The atmosphere was great and the staff seemed to enjoy being there, which always adds to a good vibe. We’ll be back!!
