Very dissappointed with our last experience at RWT and won't return.
We arrived with 10 people on a Wednesday night, place wasn't busy so we found a table and settled down. I remember the menu being Asian inspired and very exciting, whereas now it's pub food and overpriced at that.
We ordered the beef brisket ($34) which arrived as a big chunk of meat, drowned in sauce and no sides. No chips, no greens, just the brisket swimming in sauce. Not impressed.
The parmy ($28) was just the parmy. A big dry lump of chicken with no sides again! No side salad, no chips, just a dry piece of chicken. And it was DRY!
I ordered gluten free Hawaiian pizza ($28) to share with my celiac partner. Halfway through finishing the pizza a staff member came out and advised that they forgot to use the GF base! So no more pizza for my partner but at least we got two beers on the house for that mistake.
We also ordered mussels ($35) and were surprised ad how little mussels we got. For $35 you'd expect a bucket full of mussels, right? Not at RWT unfortunately. A dish full of mussels with three slices of sourdough bread on top. No butter but the sauce did taste nice.
The highlight was the mushroom pizza with truffle (flavoured oil?). That was the nicest dish.
Overall, seems like RWT have become stingy so they just skimp out on the side dishes?
If you want standard pub food, you may as well go across the road to The Local Hotel or Ocean Beach Hotel and get better value for your dollars.
