SURF ROAD

Sadly, we didn't have the greatest experience here. I had visited for a drink before and thought it was great, so when we had friends visiting from out of town we booked in for brunch. Unfortunately we waited over an hour for our food to arrive, and we still hadn't received coffees. Reminded them about the coffees and they were put in the queue so we waited another 15 mins for these. My meal was supposed to be gluten free but my husband mistakenly didn't order this correctly (not the cafe's fault). They said they would bring me gf toast. I waited 30 mins for this by which time my eggs and bacon were cold, as was the ONE slice supermarket loaf of toast I received and was charged $5 for. Overall we were there more than 2 hours just to be served a pretty average meal and get three coffees. We are pretty forgiving, and if the staff had been the slightest bit apologetic I would not have left this review - but they actually seemed a bit exasperated by us and sent the poor waitress on her first day to explain to us our coffees hadn't been ordered. Sad because we were so excited to support this new local spot!

Update July 2025: We visited again and had food this time. They have a tofu bowl that is vegan and gluten free and it's really good. It's a nice place but would be great if they could do table service. Right now you have to order at the counter. Original review: Just had coffee but it was nice. There are seats outside on Surf Rd so you can take a dog. Friendly service. It was a little cold in the shade on a cold day but they said they are getting heaters for outside soon.
