This was the worst food experience we've ever had. 6 people and food came sporadically and over 1 hour to get. Toast was bread, nothing cooked properly. Many people sending meals back. Other patrons cancelled their orders. Coffee was watery and weak. No gluten free options. We turned other patrons away as so disgusting. The bathroom was so filthy with sanitory bin overflowing. When we complained they are not willing to make any concessions. They are very fortunate we didn't walk out without paying.

Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else if you’re in Swansea. The dining room was stuffy, with no background music for ambience and numerous flies around the place. Our server was unhelpful, bordering on rude: when ordering we asked some simple questions about what gluten-free options they had and modifying a dish for a child (removing the ice cream and maple syrup) both were met with confusion and a lack of knowledge or, most frustratingly, any desire to cater to what are basic requirements. It’s worth noting here that they do not have a kids menu and do not offer any smaller serves. I’m not a coeliac but the server didn’t bother to check or clarify that when she took our order after I had asked about the gluten-free options. She also had to prompted to take our drink order. We were not informed of a wait time for food or drinks (the place was maybe half full) and waited for close to 20 minutes for some very average coffee and were ready to walk out by the time the food finally arrived 45/50 minutes later. The food itself was greasy and low quality, portions were small and they left the avocado off of my dish for some unknown reason. Absolutely overpriced for what it was. I left feeling queasy and irate that such a large portion of our morning had been spent there unnecessarily. There was no apology for the wait and because we weren’t informed on arrival we were not afforded the opportunity to make our own decision about it either. That’s failing basic hospitality and unfortunately I think this is the kind of place that doesn’t need to rely on return customers - being by the waterside, right on the main road, in a tourist town - and will continue to get away with not improving on delivering a poor product and service due to the steady supply of first time customers who don’t know any better. The purpose of this review is so you might know better. There are plenty of considerably better options in the town and I would encourage you to bring your business in their direction and not waste your time and money at the Saltshaker. The dirty windows left even the famed view from enjoyment.
