0 stars- CELIACS BEWARE. Slow service, uneducated staff, and false advertising. I was so excited to go here on our trip to Utah. I have celiac disease (gluten free) so I selected this restaurant months in advance due to their seemingly extensive gluten free menu.
We drove an hour to go here because of this for our anniversary. However, upon arrival we waited 20 minutes to even be seen by a hostess. Then after we are seated, I began to inform the waitress of my “allergy” and ask questions to ensure the menu items are actually gluten free- shared fryer, separate prep/pan etc. I also asked about a specific salad, and it was at that moment that I realized that she was unaware what gluten was and thought it was fish allergy. The was despite the extensive markings on the menu, which to me, would imply the staff would be educated on the allergies/dietary preferences listed. After explaining what celiac is and she went to talk to the kitchen, it turned out it was a shared fryer, they do use a separate pan, but will not swap out sides. THEN, by the owners daughter, was told they will prepare them all differently and the waitress was miscommunicated to by the kitchen. I became unsure and felt very uneasy about eating so we wound up leaving. They said they will change some of their notations on the menu to note “not celiac safe” which literally means nothing- it’s not gluten free.
Really disappointing when restaurants falsely advertise to accommodate a trendy diet when in fact it’s an autoimmune disease.
