I’ve been a regular customer for 4 years and have loved this restaurant, but the service and food has really dropped in quality. Two friends I ate with today are celiac and were assured by our waiter that accommodations could be made. He seemed relatively new and didn’t know the whole menu which is understandable, but when we were asking if an item was gluten free / could be made gluten free he would respond “I think so?” And we would have to ask him to check with the chefs if the food they were going to order were gluten free. My friend got a gluten free sandwich and Caesar salad without croutons and was assured that there was no cross contamination. My other celiac friend got an omelette with no home fries and no toast. When we got the food the omelette had home fries and it had to be remade. I completely understand that being a new server is very difficult but I did not feel that my friends’ allergies were taken seriously. Both of my friends are now sick an hour after leaving because of cross contamination. If modifications cannot be made to certain items on the menu that is completely okay, that just needs to be communicated to the customer. Service and food here was so much better two years ago. The quality has gone down and the prices have increased exponentially. I’ve been coming here for a long time and won’t be returning again.

Let me prefice to say 42 yrs as a chef...Ate here today ordered a reuben wrap..lmao with sauerkraut it was offered, never got it.. If your out of sauerkraut then 86 the item.. A waiter didn't even know what's gluten free is..Here's something before you put a waiter on the floor go over the menu with them..oh why is red onions in a reuben?, This place has totally fallen off since the old owners sold..gonna take alot to come back.. Our waitress was very apologetic...(Kat)

Shine Family Restaurant is a hidden gem! Their breakfast and lunch menu offers something for everyone, including delicious vegan and gluten-free options. The food and coffee are great, and portions are generous. We had the Lumberjack and the traditional breakfast. But what really stands out is the exceptional service - friendly, fast, and attentive.
