ZERO STARS. I have celiac disease, and the man up front assured me that any sushi roll could be made gluten free. He assured me three different times throughout the process that what I ordered was gluten free, and that he even supposedly checked with the chef, and he said it was gluten free. My receipt even stated that the order was supposed to be gluten free.
Trusting this, I got home with my food and started to eat my roll before noticing crunchy stuff on the inside. I called the store to confirm that this was a safe crunchy product, perhaps made with rice flour? The woman told me no, the crunchy stuff was definitely made with gluten, and on top of that, the spicy salmon in my roll also had gluten in it. This food was in NO WAY safe for me to consume. It's absolutely ridiculous for them to try to claim the food is gluten free when most of the employees don't even know what that means.
Celiac disease is a very serious medical condition. I have been sick for the past week, and studies show that it can take 3-6 months for the intestines to fully heal from a single exposure like this. You are seriously harming people by conducting business this way.
I'd also like to point out that beyond the allergen safety, this place was pretty gross. It seems like they try to hide the grime with dim lighting, but you can still tell. I didn't venture further than the front entry/counter, but my shoes were sticking to the floor with every step. This place is filthy and needs a serious health inspection.
