It's been a while since I have been down Marshall Street, but I was surprised to find it is now full of boutique restaurants. Short Grain is right on the corner of McLachlan. When you first walk in, the feel of the place is quite modern. But even for a Wednesday night, this place was very busy. I'm not sure if it is the acoustics of the place or I'm just getting old, but this place was loud. Everyone was having a good time and you had to raise your voice and listen carefully to have a conversation. This might not be the place to come for a quite romantic dinner. They seem to be set up for bigger tables.
The food was exceptional with almost everything on the menu being gluten free. They even use gluten free soy sauce.
The service was a little slow. Our drinks came out after our entree was served, but the staff very friendly, professional and a little apologetic.
Overall a great night.
