Smith + Deli

Smith + Deli is my go to for their famous chai (both iced and hot are great). I also love their sandwiches (Maury Ballstein is my favourite) and they have delicious gluten free bread (fellow Coeliacs - you will appreciate it!). This visit I dined in for brunch (weekend with family) and service was top notch as usual. Family (non vegan) didn't realise they were eating a plant based croque monsieur until I reminded them everything was vegan. I ordered the potato rosti (gluten free) and it was really tasty, the rosti was so nice and crispy. They were also super helpful and accommodating with my little one and secured the booster seat for us.

Great vegan spot! I was so excited to try this place, it was hard to choose what to try!! I settled on the godfather toasted sammy to share with my mom. We both really enjoyed it (and she isn’t vegan!). If we were staying longer in the city we definitely would go back to try more. Everything looked delicious!!! We also got their cookie to go and it was fab! It was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and you could barely tell it was gluten free. We should have gotten 2!

Howdy! Firstly - I've been to Smith & Deli and Smith & Daughters many times over the years, have cook books that I regularly cook from, etc. Leaving a 4 star review because I don't want to be a jerk, but the last few times I've gone to Smith & Deli I've left annoyed. Ordering system seems confused, and the last 3 times I've been food has been forgotten for around an hour, and then get compensated with free donuts that neither myself or my partner want when waiting for savoury food (also I'm celiac!). I understand these things happen sometimes, but this seems to be a consistent thing over the last year. Also my large serving salad for $28 was a small serving, and I left still hungry. After paying close to $90 for two meals and two drinks and a 10% weekend surcharge, just feels a little meh and I think I'll stick to buying the ready made fridge stuff!
