TL;DR—Delicious, allergy friendly, noisy, cute, family friendly to a point, and reservations required for parties of 4 or more. SoHo Lane is a cute, crowded, centrally located cafe in Mount Lawley. The food, however, far surpasses any commentary on the decor or locale. The menu is surprisingly diverse, with unique taste pairings and gorgeous presentation. It’s also consistently delicious, whether ordered in person and enjoyed on site, or ordered through a delivery app—which is an unexpected delight. The menu is clearly marked for food allergies, and those who are coeliac or gluten sensitive will find plenty to choose from—even chicken and waffles and pancakes! The only real downside to the cafe is the environment. Mind you, it’s super cute inside with a trendy retro diner feel with distinctly Asian “cutsy” elements, all of which is welcoming and a treat. But the noise levels inside the cafe—and even if you sit outside—are shockingly loud. They also play modern music in the background. Bring noise-canceling headphones for anyone who is noise sensitive. And if you or one of your party are hard of hearing, I would definitely sit outside. Reservations are critical, especially on holidays and weekends, for parties of 4 or more. However, during the weekdays, it is quite easy to sidle up for a cuppa and a bite without any problem finding a seat. While it is child friendly in terms of food, I don’t recommend bringing kiddos who can’t sit still. The cafe is small, and there’s no room for wandering. Be sure to bring along your grocery bags, too—Fresh Foods grocery is right next door, and they have an incredible selection of imported and local foods and treats you don’t want to miss. :)

We were so impressed with our meals today! My husband had the continental roll and I had the gluten free fried chicken burger. The portions were very generous. A cosy place to sit while it rained outside.
