Sofies Mat&Vinhus

I had dinner there with a couple of friends, the attention from the staff were excellent. They explain the menu to us, even doing some suggestions. The food was pretty good (we asked typical Norwegian meatballs and hamburgers) and the beer was excellent (Ringnes) and in price range for Oslo. They also were totally capable of explaining the allergens to us and even asked kitchen for double checking. It’s crazy that they also have gluten free beer (Ringnes too)! I would recommend to try this place.

Oslo is an expensive city. I was looking for a restaurant with good local food at moderate prices, and I found it at Sofie's mat og vinhus. The restaurant is simply furnished, with the atmosphere of a family restaurant. It was half empty at 5:45 pm but it filled up quickly with people who seemed enjoying their meals and their conversations. It seemed that most patrons were Norwegian, but the friendly staff spoke English well, and helped me select gluten free choices. The food was excellent and the portions healthy. The menu isn't extensive but enough options to satisfy.
