Sour Seed Bagels

I was really looking forward to trying Sour Seed Bagels after hearing about their gluten-free options , not many places offer gluten-free bagels, so I made the trip and drove over an hour to grab a bite and take a few bagels home. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. When I arrived, the girl working there was incredibly rude and told me I could only take one gluten-free bagel home because they are “difficult to make.” There’s no mention of this restriction anywhere on their website or menu, which made the situation even more frustrating! Since I arrived close to closing, I assumed they’d be eager to sell their remaining bagels, but instead I was met with a dismissive attitude and no willingness to accommodate. I really wanted to love this place, but the lack of transparency and poor customer service completely ruined the experience. If you’re driving from far away hoping to bring home gluten-free options, I’d recommend calling ahead or looking elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time visiting Sour Seed or at least, don’t go out of your way to try them out. Their young staff are definitely not the brightest, but it also doesn’t help that the owner clearly has no business sense. If you show up before they close, they start to ration things off and will limit you to 1 loose bagel per order. However, if you order something off the menu (with a topping), you are not limited. I wound up spending $7 (that’s including a $1 tip, even though the service was crap) on ONE gluten free bagel (that’s all that was left)…it was overcooked and had absolutely no taste, so it ended up in the trash.
