Stage Restaurant

I’m often skeptical about eating at brunch places as a person with celiac disease. I often avoid them because of the amount of cross-contamination or the staff that tell me they can’t accommodate my dietary restrictions. I decided to go to The Stage for brunch this weekend given the nice weather and wanted to sit outside at their patio and enjoy a served meal. I ordered the cristo sandwich, but asked if they could just toast the bread instead of battering it in the French toast batter with all the other cross contaminated regular wheat toast. They said yes, and when it came back, it was battered. I remind the server about my celiac and how I can’t eat it if it was battered with the other breads. She went in the back and spoke with the chef who, it turns out, took it upon themselves to create a whole new batter just for my gluten-free bread so I could have the sandwich as it was listed. This is why the stage is number one! While it may seem like a small thing to anyone else, when an establishment consistently accommodates you without having to ask, it goes a long way. They always go above and beyond for people of all different dietary needs! Thank you for such a wonderful brunch, sincerely a very symptomatic celiac.

Cute spot with some semi-unique ingredients (as a southerner returning to New England after two decades, anyway) on the menu, as well as creative cocktails and gluten-free options! Server was very helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable.
