Staks Pancake Kitchen - Auburn

This restaurant is an over-priced nightmare. I came here with my boyfriend a couple months ago because we thought this place looked nice, and they had gluten-free options. When you walk into the restaurant, you expect to be sat by a hostess because it’s a bit on the fancier side - but instead you stand there like a moron until you are told that it is an “order at the counter” type of place. And of course, they expect gratuity before you have even been sat at your table and given actual service beyond putting your order into the iPad. Service was poor. Our waiter seemed to be very inattentive and bothered by the fact that they had to do their job at a bare minimum level. The food took a while to come out despite the restaurant being relatively quiet. There was nothing wrong with it and it tasted fine. However, when we reviewed the amount of money that we paid for our food. Apparently they add some hidden fee with gluten free items that aren’t clearly stated/labeled in the menu (at least not when we were dining there). My boyfriend went to speak to the manager about it and she seemed absolutely appalled by the fact that anybody could possibly be dissatisfied by their experience at this place. She was rude and unreasonable. It was almost $50 for two people to have two simple breakfast meals, not anything extravagant at all. Seriously avoid this place like the plague, especially if you have a gluten allergy. The Waffle House down the street has better service and a more welcoming environment than Staks. Your money would be better spent at any other business in Auburn. Doubt they will last here very long at all.
