This Father’s Day, we celebrated at State and Main in Etobicoke, a spot renowned for its relaxed atmosphere and dog-friendly patio. The welcoming staff found us a shaded table, and even our pup, Lucky, received a bowl of water.
Arriving just in time for happy hour after 2 PM, I started with a refreshing Raspberry Dragon Fruit No-jito. For appetizers, we enjoyed the fish tacos, which featured crispy white fish topped with creamy avocado, fresh slaw, and a vibrant pico de gallo, all drizzled with a tangy garlic aioli. The bang bang shrimp stole the show with its light, crispy tempura batter and a delightful combination of spicy sriracha aioli and sweet unagi sauce, making each bite a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
For the main course, I had the Bison Burger with truffle fries, which were perfectly seasoned and crispy. My wife chose the creamy Jalapeño Mac and Cheese, topped with toasted parmesan panko for an added crunch. My mom loved the fresh Cobb Salad, loaded with grilled chicken, crispy bacon, cheddar, and ripe avocado, while my dad enjoyed a hearty two-patty Main Burger.
We wrapped up the meal with two delightful desserts. The chocolate brownie with ice cream was a decadent treat; the brownie was rich and fudgy, and the ice cream added a lovely contrast with its cool creaminess. The Strawberry Champagne Cheesecake was equally indulgent, with a velvety, smooth texture and a hint of champagne flavor, topped with a sweet strawberry coulis and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. It was gluten-free, which was a thoughtful touch for those with dietary needs.
The inside of State and Main offers a spacious dining area with a bar for sports fans, but we loved the outdoor patio. Overall, our visit to State and Main was fantastic. The friendly service, great food, and dog-friendly environment made it a perfect choice for Father’s Day. We look forward to returning soon!
