I went to Steam Haus for breakfast. What a fabulous vibe and I love the concept and decore, really good. But unfortunately I wont be returning. The tables were filthy dirty. Not just a one off you could tell they had not been cleaned at all for sometime. Even behind the drinks fridge which you can clearly see whilst sitting in the front of the cafe is pure filth - gross. The cutlery was dirty, not with fingerprints it was actually dirty with food etc. The staff lack direction and had no basic customer experience ie. greeting with a hello or smile. I ordered a basic scrambled eggs and bacon with gluten free bread. The bread came out buttered (I dont have butter on my toast), scrambled eggs were sub-par and the bacon half cooked. I was so looking forward to trying the coffee but gee what a let down that was coffee was terrible. I hope they take this as an opportunity to improve because I don't see it lasting being run to the ground as it is.

Updated review. I've been coming here for years and was always impressed, however since new owners have taken over, the quality of the food has dropped considerably. Service is still good at the counter and staff are great, but quality of food, presentation and price has changed lots. Prices are higher than most other cafes for same food menu items. I have been here 4 seperate times since new owners have taken over just in case the previous visits were just "off days", but the quality is still not there each time. There is nothing special with the food anymore and it's cooked and presented like anyone can cook at home themselves without any experience. Disappointed ....... .......... ......... .. .......... ......... Whenever I have visited Steam Haus I have always been greeted with extremely friendly and prompt service. There are many places to sit and eat or enjoy a coffee and cake in this wonderful spot. You can sit outside the back on the rear patio on some comfortable tables and chairs or lounge suites and even the bring your fur baby with you. Inside there's lots of little separate rooms with lounge suites and coffee tables you can sit and relax and enjoy your time leisurely reading a book whilst enjoying your coffee or you can sit in the main cafe area or even outside on Whatley Crescent. They have a large range of food including cakes and all day breakfast. They do gluten free options and also lactose free milk with fantastic coffees. Definitely well worth a visit on your trip to the Maylands cafe strip. Its gets busy on weekends so make it early
