Steeplejack Pizza and Beer

The gluten free pizza is white cardboard, terrible, everyone at the table hated it and it is way overpriced and worse than frozen pizza. *Update 2025... still sucks so bad. Was unfortunate enough to hang out with friends who ordered GF pizza from them.. still rubbery and gross with close to zero toppings.

We came in here on Friday evening and it was a very strange vibe. It felt empty, just a few folks at tables down the steps. The bar area was a bit busier. There was UFC on all the tvs and it was incredibly loud in there with the music, too. We chose to sit out on the patio. There are QR codes on the tables to order—no waitstaff. They only have one gluten free menu option which is a pizza that’s $26! Not even a big pizza. We weren’t impressed with the menu and felt it was very expensive so we left and went elsewhere (Taco Bell FTW!). Please offer more GF options—even just nachos! Or GF buns for the burger. And also maybe give us a veg burger option… Just not impressed. It makes sense it was mostly empty on a Friday evening. We won’t be back—just seemed like a waste of time for all the amazing places to eat in Portland. The other Steeplejack on the east side is 10000x better.

I absolutely love this place! They were able to tell me whether the gluten free pizza dough had certain ingredients I’m allergic to too which I really appreciate. Definitely will be trying that next time. You can’t go wrong with any menu items, the salads are big and delicious and the wings are huge and fried to perfection. I’m so glad y’all are back open!!
