This spot offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with a lovely back patio and covered porch ideal for relaxed dining. While the menu advertises gluten-free options, shared fryers and cross-contamination risks mean it is not safe for those with gluten allergies, so caution is advised.

I used to love this restaurant prior to being diagnosed with a GI condition which required me to be gluten free. However, SSG advertises on their menu several items that are GF. But please be aware the advertised GF fried items are fried in a SHARED fryer. Hello SSG, this practice removes the GF designation and it is very dangerous and misleading to advertise in this manner. Management needs to revise the menu and educate the staff (and themselves) on proper prep and food handling for allergies. Even if SSG states there is a "disclaimer" that their GF offerings are geared more towards those who are GF as a "preference", it's unfair and disingenuous to represent your menu in this manner. Celiacs are always hoping to find safe GF options and your offerings are anything but safe. Out of town customers will come in because they found a restaurant menu with GF items and will either be disappointed if told those items aren't indeed GF or they will get violently ill from being glutened. Avoid this place if you have food allergies.

***Not celiac safe!*** I was very excited to try this restaurant because of all of the GF options on their menu including fried green tomatoes, calamari and loaded sweat potato tots! I was in the middle of placing my order when I found out that ALL of the fried items marked GF are cooked in a shared fryer with everything else. I contacted the restaurant because this is very misleading and was told by the owner that their GF items are more for people with a preference. I told her that once you put these items in a shared fryer they are no longer GF and this could cause someone with celiac to be very sick. She explained that they have a disclaimer that they do not have a separate space for cooking gluten and thought that was fine. I have never been to a restaurant that lists fried items as GF unless they have a separate fryer. I hope no one gets sick from this place. My grain bowl came out with crunchy chickpeas which I had to return after I asked again about the shared fryer. They were cooked in that shared fryer.
