The restaurant experience leaves much to be desired. We made a reservation through Resy, making sure to note one person with Celiac’s disease and another celebrating a birthday. They seemed to not read these notes. While it’s nice they have a gluten-friendly menu, it wasn’t offered until we mentioned the allergy while ordering. And they did nothing for the birthday, which isn’t required, but would’ve been nice. Our server was not knowledgeable about drinks. I loved the lychee Yakult martini. My friend wanted just a plain lychee martini, but the server wasn’t familiar with that. My martini was delicious, but it was $17 and the price was not advertised on the chalkboard. I wouldn’t have gotten it if I knew that in advance. They didn’t bring our food out at the same time. It’s unpleasant to watch someone else eating when you’re hungry (nevermind different opinions on etiquette). I was happy with my noodles. They take the spicy level seriously. I appreciate that the menu has English and Chinese on it. I appreciate that they offer water without ice. The bathroom was not clean, and there was water all over the counter. One automatic spout did not work. My meat eating friends say the quality of meat was bad. Rubbery, chewy chicken. One piece was even described as “inedible.” My gluten-free friend did not like her meal, the ginger and garlic scallion chicken. It didn’t have strong flavor and the chicken was unseasoned and also chewy. She was disappointed. I would also like to see them change the verbiage to “gluten-free” menu, not “friendly.” When there’s an allergy involved, it shouldn’t be a guess of whether it’s in the food or not. This place is Michelin recommended or something like that. It is obvious why they didn’t get that star.

Absolutely incredible. Super accommodating for gluten allergies. So many options! Try the sweet rice old fashioned!
