Sushi Hatsu

Many of the gluten free options are NOT celiac safe. I was glutened here. I called ahead and a manager told me they have tons of GF items and can accommodate celiac. But then we got to the restaurant and the waitress told us many of the GF items are cross contaminated. One of the chefs came to our table and asked me “how serious is this, like an epi pen situation?”, demonstrating that he had no idea what celiac is and that he thought I was maybe exaggerating? After some discussion that made me feel called out and horrible, I went against my better judgement and ate the few things they agreed to make separately. I wound up very sick. It was a really frustrating and demoralizing experience.

Such an amazing experience! The staff are all so kind and knowledgeable, the space is cozy and inviting..and most important of all: the food is SO good! Everything is fresh, presented beautifully, and delicious. Such a gem. Plus, there’s tons of Gluten Free (celiac friendly) and vegetarian/vegan options that are clearly marked. Already excited to come back!
