I began to transition off animal foods about 3 years ago. For about the last year I have 99% vegan (maybe a dozen meals involving animal products), and I have been fully vegan for about 90 days. Over these last few years, I found it frustrating at how few options I had at various places, so it is a massive relief to find a place I can order literally anything on the menu.
But it is not just that this place only serves vegan food, it is also how good it is. The spring rolls were phenomenal and HUGE, the dumplings were amazing, the filling in particular was extremely well seasoned and tasty (the wrapper was a little different probably because it is vegan, but still extremely good) I then had a main course of a mixed vegetables and shrimp with their general tso's equivalent. The shrimp were almost like the real thing, they reminded me of fake crab meat that is used in sushi, what was odd is they replicated the texture and especially the fishy taste. The fishiness was so realistic it was somewhat off-putting (but that is not a bad thing for people looking for a replacement)
The Tsos "chicken" though was to die for, I have not had something this realistic since the last time I had actual general tsos with chicken. It also didn't go out of its way to completely replicate the texture, so there wasn't an uncanny valley experience with the food where it was too much like the real thing. It was fluffier but still with a similar texture, delicious fry breading, and amazing sauce -- just freaking phenomenal sauce with tons of peppers. The mixed veggies were also amazingly fresh, rice was great.
This is some of the best food I have had in years, definitively the best vegan food I have had. The food was also extremely hot and fresh, I could tell nothing was left sitting around. The wait staff was also amazing. The only complaint I have could also be seen as a massive compliment and that is that the shrimp are simply too realistic, they did too good a job with them.
I told my server that it was very very very very good, about that many times, and I mean it. I will definitely be coming back, I just hope I can convince my non-vegan friends to join me. Though one thing that might help is one of them has gluten sensitivities and they serve plenty of gluten free options for them, clearly marked (which is a huge plus!)
