I’m a local and Taste is one of our family’s favorite restaurants in Downtown Paso. Not only do we love the ambiance (relaxed with great decor and an outdoor dining option), we love their food! The fries with garlic aioli, Cowboy cobb salad, berry vinaigrette salad, and the Gouda mac n cheese with bbq pulled pork are some of our favorites. I’m partial to the assortment of chicken sliders (that I get lettuce wrapped), while my husband loves the beef and lamb. As someone who is gluten sensitive, it’s also great that their salad dressings and fries are gluten-free—and they have a gluten-free mac n cheese option!

Not safe for gluten-free!! I specifically came here because they advertise gluten-free food. I was served wheat pasta - after we noticed it looked the same as my non-celiac fellow diner's pasta, we asked. Waitstaff said it should be but they'd check. It was not. She asked "are you going to be okay?" And I said "not really, I'll have 6 to 8 hours of horrible diarrhea this evening". She replied "don't tell me that, I feel terrible" & apologized profusely. When my gluten-free mac came, the cheese was hot so I started eating. But the pasta & onion were refrigerator cold. At this point we asked for a to-go box for my partner's food & left. I explained I haven't had a vacation of any kind in 2 years & now I get to spend one night of it sitting on a toilet in an airbnb. While the waitress said variations on "I'm so sorry" a lot, we ultimately got $4 off our $62 meal. Not exactly awesome compensation for an evening lost to acute celiac symptoms. People with celiac disease & anyone who wants their pasta hot - don't come here. Also, I know they train you to say "have a great day", but maybe not the best thing to say to someone silently weeping because you just served them a food that will wreak havok on their intestines. Edit: adding the response I got when I emailed for my refund.
