I will be back. Flavorful food where a few times, we thought we would order the dish again. Sweet Corn Chawanmushi - so so good. Note - if you're sharing, it is served in one bowl (miso soup bowl) and it has broth. My friend and I had no issues but if you are that person that doesn't like to shares your liquids, consider asking if they'll split it into two or just go for a second, it's that good. Japanese Sweet Potato - this one had a crunch to it as the outer skin was prepared until crispy/crunchy? Good change compared to the Chawanmushi. Also, much easier to portion out between the two of us. Dungeness Crab Rice - visually the least impressive of all of our dishes. Also just realized I didn't taste the strawberry. I think this was the most "bland" of our choices. Scallops - visually stunning presentation. A good number of scallops. A fun build your own dish. Would definitely order again Steam burger - we ordered just one, as my friend is gluten free. I loved this. It's so tasty. Served on a Hawaiian dinner roll like bun. Desserts - we ended up ordering half orders of both. We enjoyed the one with seaweed meringue better than the other. The cara cara orange ended up too tart for both of us, however, the coconut pandan flavoring came through and was quite tasty.

I've been to Tomo 4-5 times over the last few years. It used to be our special occasion destination. The one that made us feel like we were visiting exclusive restaurants like the ones you see on TV. The servers were passionate; the sommelier was wonderful; the food was out of this world and they were always willing to sub for my celiac husband. They made it feel special. Recently, they changed their business model, letting go of much of the staff and changing to an a la carte menu. It feels like any other restaurant now. Our server seemed inexperienced, terrified or recovering from a funeral. We won't be back.
