Cold weather calls for comforting Thai dishes! I recently visited Taste of Thai in Schaumburg and had a mixed experience. The chicken in the Panang curry was steamed and a bit bland, which made it a little underwhelming. Though I understand that's how it is typically prepared. The curry broth itself was heavy on coconut milk, making it quite sweet—perhaps a bit too sweet for my personal taste. Similarly, the basil chicken also leaned towards the sweeter side. A new favorite that I recently tried is the beef salad, prepared with thinly sliced grilled beef in a delicate sweet, and sour dressing on a bed of fresh greens.
On the plus side, I really enjoyed the chicken satay and the Vietnamese rolls—they were both flavorful and well-prepared. The service was excellent, and the staff was knowledgeable about gluten and made sure to prepare the entrees carefully. The restaurant was clean and welcoming, though the seating is limited, so expect to wait during peak times.
The portions are generous and shareable, which is a nice touch. Parking was convenient, and I was glad to see they also offer carry-out service for those on the go. Overall, it’s a solid spot for a casual Thai meal, though I’d recommend adjusting expectations on the sweetness of the dishes. I think it's due to my gluten allergy that the recipe may have slightly changed, though I would definitely come back for more!
