Tavern in the Square

Great gluten free selections on the menu...place was way too busy for only 2 bartenders, waits were a little long.

So, you know how the staff at Chic Fil A are always smiling and saying, “My pleasure”? Well, forget all that. It was a long day for me and I just wanted to unwind with my husband in a fun atmosphere. We went directly upstairs to the host station and asked how long the wait was “up here”. The visibly annoyed hostess replied, “The same as it is downstairs”, assuming we were trying to outsmart the system. Fast forward to this evening’s highlight when I received my go-to gluten free meal with pasta instead of rice. I asked the bartender about the pasta and she sharply stated, “You said gluten free”. I politely (for real) let her know rice is gluten free and she summoned my plate with her hand saying they’d remake it. My husband was done with his meal before mine came back and there was never an apology or a check back. My meal was dry and had to have been sitting for a while. The manager came out with a second meal, accidentally, and HE apologized, which was nice but somehow I felt like he thought I was the ‘Karen’ of this scenario. This was the second time we sat at the bar and had a miserable bartender! It just sucks that the staff are allowed to behave this way and ruin my favorite place.

Great news location. Our server Jimmy was excellent. He took very good care of us regarding food allergy/celiac disease. Food was so good. Seeing other food go to other tables makes me want to come back and try more plates. Helpful hint: make a reservation and come early to find parking. But it's worth it :)
