I come from a small town with a lot of extremely mid Italian options, so in the big city I hope to find options I can't find back home. Terroni certainly delivered. The architecture is lovely, with high ceilings, fine decor, and sound absorbing red velvet drapes.
Alana was cheerful, quick, and gave great suggestions for our pescetarian and gluten-free party members.
Appetizers: fried calamari (cooked PERFECTLY) could have used a marinara dipping sauce to cut the dry saltiness; burrata e prosciutto could have been fresh out of the Italian countryside; Verde insalate was perfectly dressed, bright, and crisp; bread? To die for.
Mains: party ordered two pizzas (smendozzata: sausage, red onion, and gorgonzola; scattagengive: tomato, mozzarella, spicy aurriccio provolone, cacciatore hot salami; both came with thin crust which were crisp around the outside but slightly softer in the middle, which made cutting challenging and frequently led to toppings smearing & falling off off), spaghetti in canna a mare was rich with seafood and perfectly spiced; tonnarelli alla norcina with gluten free pasta was promptly devoured.
Dessert: I got cannoli to go. Sacrilege I know but dinner was just That Damn Filling. Made for a lovely midnight snack. Actually beyond lovely; it's the best cannoli I've ever eaten in my life.
The food was so good and I was so hungry that I completely forgot to take pictures. Sorry about that.
