Nosh @ Newport Brewing Company

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Used to LOVE this place and have been coming off/on since they opened. I’m not one to complain about this kind of stuff but had to try very hard to stay calm while there. Staff were extremely rude, had unbelievably poor customer service and it seems everyone here must hate their jobs. Was not busy in the least when we arrived and the servers don’t even have to take orders from the tables anymore. Multiple people were ‘put out’ from the first second we got there. The couple in front of us asked some basic questions about their advertised gluten free options and we saw what we were in store for; the wait staff clearly had no idea about any of it and was not in the mood to find out much. My wife is very lactose intolerant (gets very sick) asked about whether or not a couple items had milk in them. ‘I don’t know, I don’t make the sauces’ in a very rude/offended voice. When we asked about a few other options to see what didn’t have dairy in it, she then said, ‘well she can just get the sauce on the side unless you want me to ask about EVERY sauce we have since I don’t make them and have no idea.’ I was taken aback and said ‘well what good is it to get it on the side if she can’t eat it? It would be good to know if there is anything she can have that doesn’t have it in it.’ Got an annoyed huff as she stormed to the back. Not sure why I left a tip at all…then had to ask about the WiFi password and a different server stared at us and said, ‘well it’s written on a chalkboard that you can go see but if you really want it I can write it on a sticky note.’ No indication of where the magical chalkboard was. Then after getting our food, was told there was no avocados which was a main part of the wraps and my fish sandwich was a soggy mess of liquidy coleslaw. Thankfully at least the beer was still ok but wasn’t going to stay for more than one. Very sad as was a place we always had to come to first during our trips. No more unfortunately…not that they would probably care…

This was a great spot in Newport Beach, try the fish and chips. You won’t be disappointed! The pickle fries are also quite amazing. My daughter-in-law tried the CBD lemonade and said it was delicious. They were able to accommodate gluten-free options as well! I highly recommend if you’re in the area.
