The Blue Ball at Braunston - Country Pub Restaurant, Oakham, Rutland LE15

Unfortunately we came back because it was good when we came a couple of years ago and it was totally different. We booked for a very early Sunday lunch and all had a roast because we wanted to be quick as we had a long drive but unfortunately it was over an hour and no food arrived so we had to chase them ( and no apology offered). When food arrived they gave a standard meal to someone who'd ordered one suitable for a food intolerance, thankfully because it had a Yorkshire pudding on it was obvious but even when asked they seemed so uncaring and too relaxed about whether it was an intolerant friendly meal. If it had been coeliac, having a Yorkshire pudding on top just wouldn't have been ok.

We originally picked this pub because they had gluten and dairy free marked on the menu for the relevant items which makes ordering so much easier but once we were here we were delighted we had come. The food was really good quality and delicious and as mentioned, they had good options for dietary requirements and the staff were knowledgeable about what was in the food or adaptions that could be made. The pub was lovely, in a pretty little village and was very dog friendly which we always enjoy. The service was great, all the staff were polite and everything arrived in good time. One thing on Sunday roasts- the portions are pretty big! ( But with no less quality). We will definitely be back.
