The Guilford Bistro & Grille Cafe

If memory serves, this used to be some sort of diner or donut shop when I was growing up. Needless to say, I’ve frequented the building for decades but had forgotten about GB for years at a time…until recently! I’ve made it a point to come here a couple times a month over the past year bc it is so.darn.good! The food really is always so delicious, I’ve never gone wrong with an order. They have great gluten free options, amazing gfree pasta dishes. Truly amazing food!

After having many great experiences here prior to last night, dear friends and I decided to dine here for dinner to celebrate my impending 50th birthday. Unfortunately, we left frustrated, disappointed and ignored. First and foremost, we were packed into our table like sardines in a can, offering minimal space to move our seats in or out across our meal. The worst thing was our waitress, who was not attentive in any way, shape or form. In fact, we sat there without so much as a drink for the first 20 minutes we were there. We weren’t offered bread, while patrons who were seated after us were enjoying drinks and appetizers. Had we not asked for dessert options I’m not sure we would have gotten any. The vibe was one of being annoyed and a bother. Food was admittedly delicious, though my filet was slightly overcooked and gluten free options were surprisingly limited. . Don’t know that I’ll visit again after the experience last night. I feel terrible my friends spent so much $ on a frustrating experience.
