Just wanted to provide a few comments as a person dining at the Keg with celiac disease (gluten free). I’ve had mixed experiences dining here - when it’s busy (which is often), I find that the lack of communication with servers and the kitchen regarding gluten free options and cross-contamination makes for an uneasy experience. This is greatly exacerbated by the fact that the online menu and the in-person menu both indicate different gluten free items, so it’s difficult to tell what is safe. Those with celiac often plan ahead to know what menu options they can order, so I’d appreciate this being updated to avoid confusion! However, when the restaurant is not busy, I’ve had some good experiences where I felt that my meal was celiac-safe (albeit menu confusion) and where servers were able to communicate my needs with the kitchen and share what accommodations could be made.
I would really appreciate if servers at the Keg ask guests at their table if there are any allergies prior to ordering (other restaurants in Brandon should do this too!) to help those with allergies/sensitivities/celiac feel more comfortable dining there, and to open up the conversation for guests to feel at ease. Since dining out is a real luxury these days, I think these suggestions would help create a more pleasant experience for celiacs at the Keg. Thank you!
