Great menu, kind staff, simple cocktails with decent measures, homely food, beautiful atmosphere.
It's exactly what you'd expect from our little suburb. It's modern without excess vulgarity. It's chic, but not overt. The staff were mostly female which I thought was peculiar, but it's been years since I saw men do a stellar job at waiting so I guess that makes sense.
The menus were printed on paper, yet the drinks menu was laminated, leading me to believe that they're still fine tuning their meal selections and listening to their patrons. There are vegan and gluten free options available now where a previous review said there weren't.
The pork rib eye was sensational and cooking a thick cut of pork and having it arrive at the same time as a scotch fillet, both perfectly cooked, is the mark of not just a talented chef, but a kitchen that works well together.
A pub is a meeting place and a place for conversation. The ambiance was vibrant and sustained, there are areas where the music is louder and the people are chattier and the beer is flowier. And there are areas where the bench seats suck you in, and the dappled Amber light fills you with warmth and allows you to enjoy a nice meal with your girlfriend.
There are specials for every night, kids eat free on Monday and the Sunday sessions look very chill with acoustic guitar sessions (catch me with a Pimms in the beer garden on Sundays!)
I hope they're here to stay, because our little seaside community is so lovely and connected and we have been in dire need of a publican or two in Alkimos.
