I was looking for somewhere close to the Barbican as we were attending a show there and didn’t want to drive home in potentially poor weather in December.
I knew the Rose and Crown was close and had a quick look at reviews; I was won over very quickly by glowing reviews of both the accommodation and the food.
I loved everything about the Rose and Crown - big room with a spacious en-suite, lovely fluffy towels, lots of easily accessible sockets, ample tea and coffee supplies and a very comfortable bed.
The food was delicious with gluten free and vegan options. I had a difficult time deciding what to eat; I opted for a cheeseburger with gluten free bread, but the leek and celeriac pie with a jug of cheese sauce was very tempting.
The burger came with the Rose and Crown signature chips ( the size of fishfingers!)
Breakfast was also delicious and included in the price of the night’s stay.
There was a good selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt in addition to the cooked options. Tea, coffee and 3 fruit juices were also available.
I opted for a full English breakfast with gluten free toast; it was so big I couldn’t manage it all, orange juice and a pot of tea.
The staff were all lovely; Christopher is a great host.
