We were visiting Philly and wanted to experience the whole Rocky experience. I surprised my hubby with a reservation here with some friends for a birthday celebration. We heard opera periodically throughout our dinner & ended with an opera happy birthday seranade. The food was really delicious & both SAD diet visitors & multiple dietary restrictions people can have a good time together here. I was able to eat gluten free and vegan: mushroom risotto, broccoli rabe, and vegan chocolate ice cream for dessert. So a delicious complete meal. The hubby got eggplant rollentini that he enjoyed. Our friends got the veal that they both enjoyed. We also went to the bathroom upstairs where we saw the Rocky pictures & the Adrian’s sign that they called the restaurant in the movie. Our friends said the upstairs is open for drinks at the bar on weekends.

The food at The Victor Cafe is always outstanding. There is a variety of Italian dishes; even gluten-free options. And as a bonus, the waiters and waitresses are professional opera singers and sing arias about every 20 minutes.

We always feel very welcomed in this space. The menu makes sense, the servers are the kindest (and most talented) people (shout out to Matthew and Chase), and the price is appropriate. Bring cash to tip the singers. The food is a little under seasoned, which is good news for older folks and people who love "shaky cheese. " Portions are large, great for the money. There are great vegetarian and gluten-free options. There always seems to be families and celebrations, without getting raucous. The wine list is competent but not extensive. The corkage is very reasonable, but for etiquette purposes: If you bring a nice bottle, leave a little wine for your waiter. Tip as if you had purchased a bottle. Someday soon I'll just hang out upstairs for a High West cocktail and a little entertainment. The lounge looks very comfortable!
