The Aberdeen Altens Hotel

Didn't have the best start to our short stay in the Altens as the male receptionist was not at all friendly on arrival, However we didn't see him again the rest of our stay and other members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable but chilly so I was glad I'd brought warm clothing. We couldn't get the heating to work and it was rather noisy when on. Luckily there was a bath to warm up in. I'm gluten and dairy free and was well looked after in the restaurant. The leisure facilities were great. A decent length swimming pool and a lovely hot Jacuzzi. There was a charge for parking in the hotel car park but it was only £3 a day. I'm surprised it's not included in the cost of the room. Hefty fines if you forget to pay. All in all a decent enough stay but lacked the coziness and personal touch of a smaller hotel.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, lovely room, nice pool/steam/sauna area. Food was really nice and chef was very attentive with changing the food items to accommodate for my celiac and provide me with a gluten free alternative pasta sauce. Breakfast was really nice too and gluten free options available I.e. rolls, corn flakes and other breakfast items. Would recommend and visit again.
