The Banyan House Restaurant

I enjoyed the meal and view here. The server was attentive and helpful. I wish they had gluten free options, but I asked for no bread and that worked too. The short rib was delicious.

We were seated on the patio at The Banyan House. It was a warm night and we were dining with good friends and neighbours. Our server, Julia, was helpful, friendly and attentive. My complaint is with the meal i was served. I am a Celiac and must follow a strict gluten free diet. Julia helped me with the menu. I and 3 others of my party of 6 ordered the lamp chops. I could not have the sauce or the lamb meatball on a skewer that was included with the meal. Nothing was substituted in place of these for me. The lamb came with roasted potatoes, carrots and Brussel sprouts. It would have been appropriate and thoughtful to add even a few more vegetables to my meal to make up for the lack of meatball and sauce. My two lamb chops had a total of 4 bites of lamb. They were covered with a half inch layer of fat and meat that contained blobs of fat. It was almost inedible. The other three in my party who ordered the lamb also commented on the amount of fat in the lamb chops. I found my meal very disappointing indeed. The service and atmosphere was lovely and the cabernet we chose was delicious. But this meal was far below my expectations. It is not in my nature to complain or send food back in a busy restaurant unless I know that I have been served something that I know contains gluten. I left the restaurant hungry and determined not to return to They Banyan House anytime soon.
