Went here for the first time, the service was shockingly bad, we could hear the chefs talking about us because we had an allergy and they weren't concentrating about wether the bread was intact gluten free. Just overall felt like we were a nuisance. Which is a shame because the pub itself was beautiful

The Black Jug is always great for Sunday lunch - great food, good atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. On this visit we had our gluten-intolerant daughter with us - she asked if the Yorkshire puddings that came with the beef were GF but because they weren't decided to have something else. About 5 minutes later our server came and said the kitchen had whipped up some GF yorkshires so would she like to change the order. It was such a kind, thoughtful thing to do. Our daughter did change her order and her meal was perfect - as was everyones. You can always judge somewhere by how far they'll go to make a customer happy and we were all so impressed on this occasion - especially when the kitchen is already so busy just serving Sunday lunch!

Very nice pub roast, nice wine selection and a great selection of gluten free options and adaptations. However, i would recommend that you let the customers know that you just remove the Yorkshire pudding for a celiac. Everyone knows the Yorkshire is what makes a roast...and for a celiac, a gluten free one is a wonder to behold. A pity to find out when half a plate of food is put down as the portion seemed to have been reduced as well. Also if you state pink beef, serve pink beef, not well cooked.
