The Crown Inn

Absolutely the best special fish and chips as well as the sticky toffee pudding with real hot custard. They were also gluten-free. The staff there were extremely pleasant. I am not exaggerating when I say it was probably one of the best meals I had during my visit to Scotland. I'm definitely stopping in again when I am back in town.

Everything you want dinner at a local pub to be, a cozy authentic atmosphere with historical features but modern exactly where you want it (pristine restrooms). The portions were generous and the food was excellent, with a menu full of traditional dishes, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, I wasn't sure they could deliver such range but everything we had was fantastic. The mac and cheese was made with proper cheese with the thickest and fluffiest chips I've ever had, my partner had the gluten free pizza base with fiery meat feast toppings and was thoroughly impressed with both the base and the meatballs atop it. We also managed to squeeze in a brownie knickerbocker glory at our servers gentle insistence, and the local ice cream really shines through. 10/10 for food, atmosphere and service!
