We visited for the first time on a Thursday evening for dinner with another couple. Fantastic! The ambience was just right: low level music, excited chatter from nearby tables and, most of all, it didn't have that bland, generic feel that the chain pub/restaurants have. The service was properly friendly and well informed and the food excellent. The orders were individually prepared and the portions were huge. I am gluten free and there was a comprehensive menu for me. Not cheap (c.£15 to £18 for the mains) but worth every penny. You definitely get what you pay for here.
