Went for a lunch with my 3 sisters today, booked for 12 30pm. 2 diners had allergies, one to nuts and one was a coeliac. At first glance there was little choice that was gluten free but when the waitress came to take our order she immediately asked what were we interested in from the menu. She then went to speak with the chef and came back with multiple choices 😃 I chose the venison and wild boar burger meal though was very tempted by the mutton curry. My sister with the peanut allergy chose the salmon fish cakes with red lentils as did one other sister. The last dish to be chosen was the whole plaice dish which she had with fries. The dishes were excellent though my sister said there were more bones than flesh on her plaice but it was cooked to perfection. We followed with deserts, 3 sticky toffee puddings and one gluten free brownie all served with delicious vanilla ice cream. We had a lovely time and our 2 little dogs were very relaxed the whole time and more than happy with their little biscuit treats kindly given by the waitress. The only reason we gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the time it took to be served, our order wasn't taken until 2pm though once taken it was swiftly cooked and served. Also the parking was not very good, it is up a lane behind the pub, not easy for those with mobility issues, the lane wasn't easy to walk down and there didn't seem to be any disabled entrance so we had to struggle up and then down the front steps. However the atmosphere, staff and food were excellent.
