@the.fifth.string gets five stars from us ⭐️ with a rustic yet refined take on farm to table fare, it’s not fair how good they revitalized Old Major who’s spot was in this space before. A relatively new face but are pushing the food scene forward 🍽 • Ordering here can go two ways, everything is al a carte, or a pre fixe three course—why not five? You’ll have to ask them 😂 but with the variety and intriguing option trying more than 5 things definitely isn’t difficult. • Rather than a bread and butter course, a beef tallow candle melts away into rich dip ready for the house sourdough to soak up. A sprinkling of fresh herbs brings up this meaty flavorful start. Ham croquettes have thick pieces of in-house cured pork that comes together with a velvety bechamel. The crisp exterior makes it a ham and grilled cheese bite that beats all🤤 • Their version of gnocchi isn’t found in an Italian household. They stick to their roots—of using fresh bright ingredients to differentiate their dishes. The gnocchi goes back in the pan to toast and add an unexpected crispness🔥. The egg is the true surprise. Carbonara is know for it’s runny yolk but here a fried poached egg breaks easily with a simple cut and enriches the plate with another sauce 🍳 . The foundation is strong and lends to new dishes as the seasons change. • The excellent butchery and freshness remain and fun ideas like waygu agnolotti and tomahawk steaks are ready for service.
