The Flatiron Café

The food was fresh & delightful. The fresh-made pico was scrumptious. I can’t have gluten, but they make fresh scones for those of you who can! Highly recommend stopping in. The place is small, and that represents half the charm. Vintage feel and has a lava lamp too. I thoroughly enjoyed my time. This place is a breath of fresh air in a manic world. I’d assume the only 1-star reviews for this place were from people who either don’t pay attention to what’s happening around them, or they are entitled and need to be told to be nice. Twice during my visit, I heard the owner stand up for his other customers and his place. Once he told someone to be patient. *sigh* What a joy to hear an owner point out the customer isn’t always right.

It's not what I expected. It's like 1 table and a few chairs. There really wasn't breakfast per se. It was a mom and pop coffee mini shop where the owner will whip you up some oatmeal or eggs or something similar I'd make in my kitchen. We had our coffee which was equal to my home made brew, so not bad but not gourmet, and decided against breakfast. You have to call ahead to get gluten free pastries which were advertised so that was really disappointing. All in all, a nook where you get what you could whip up at home but I guess you can pay someone else to do it for you. The people were really nice and seemed like everything was very high quality organic products. But it's not really a cozy coffee shop and definitely not a restaurant. If you are visiting, definitely stop in to visit this hole in the wall for a Expresso drink to fuel the rest of your experience but skip the regular brew and don't expect a restaurant experience.
