If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Gluten free cake was stale & the cream inside was off. Mentioned how disgusting it was to a middle aged male worker who replied with ‘it’s gluten free, what do you expect?’ He then turned his back. Unprofessional - no exchange or money back offered. People with allergies should be able to enjoy food that hasn’t gone off. Ridiculous.

There are lots of cafes in Hornsea but this is definitely the best one that we’ve tried. It’s obviously very popular with locals and visitors as it was pretty busy on what was a quite dull day. The coffee was good and my gluten free chocolate cake was delicious: light, moist and so chocolatey! My husband’s toasted teacake looked so tasty! There’s seating outside but we opted to sit inside near the bar which gave us a great view of the huge cocktail menu. Thank you very much to the lovely staff who looked after my backpack-it was an hour before I realised that it wasn’t on my back 🤷‍♀️😹 I am often a solo traveller and would feel very comfortable to visit the Green Owl again. Highly recommended!
