I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant with my girlfriend, and it was an absolute delight! The atmosphere was charming and cozy, with a vibe that made us feel right at home. They had just launched their new spring menu, and let me tell you, it was a feast for the eyes with so many tantalizing vegan and gluten-free options. For starters, we opted for the cheese souffle and the ham hock terrine, and oh boy, were they delicious! Each bite was packed with flavor and we couldn't get enough. Moving on to the mains, we went for the beef and ale pie and the Devon Crab. Not only were these dishes beautifully presented, but they also tasted absolutely divine. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we decided to treat ourselves to a slice of cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect way to end our meal - light, creamy, and surprisingly good! Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. The food was top-notch, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. While cleanliness was certainly notable, it was the welcoming vibe and exceptional food that truly stole the show. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

A very disappointing experience this evening when we were celebrating an 82nd birthday. • When we arrived my booking wasn't on the system. I tried to be chirpy about this error and the person wasn't happy. I was told they'd had a long day. • When making my booking I stated that one of us was gluten free. On ordering starters they had to check if they had Gluten Free bread. • Pate was hard. Had no butter with the bread. Less than a teaspoon of pickle. • The chicken of my meal was inedible. My chicken was 'fatty' / 'gristley' and was very dark meat. The sauce was bland. (On return home we realised there were no green beans on our plates, despite it being a specific item on the menu!!) The very nice waitress spoke to the manager and said the manger had said the meal would be taken off the bill. We thanked her. • When we asked that no crispy chicken skin was put on our meals the waitress came back and said the chef wasn't happy as it would spoil the presentation of the meal. I stressed that taste was more important to us than the presentation and that we wouldn't eat the skin. • When the bill arrived we were charged £19.95 for the meal that was inedible and that we'd expected to be taken off the bill. The waitress went to see the manager and he removed the cost of £5.80 !!!! I have never known ANY restaurant remove the cost of another item , I.e. icecream dessert, other than the inedible meal!!! Very poor customer service. • Over £30 for a bottle of prosecco that was 10.5% is possibly a bit excessive and disappointing. • I am not vegetarian, but often choose a vegetarian option, and there was a very limited choice. • There was a Gluten Free menu. The waitress was very pleasant and she did her best as was the young man who brought our prosecco. There is a 10% service charge.
