The Kirkfield

Reasonably priced pay and display car parking is available directly opposite the hotel, with disabled spaces. Hotel staff were polite and very helpful. The restaurant serves a varied menu with something for most tastes, including gluten-free and vegan options. Additionally, there is a well stocked bar that also serves non-alcoholic drinks. The room was clean, comfortable, and well furnished, although the seat provided for the desk/dressing table was not ideal. Other than that, this guest rates the hotel highly.

If you are coeliac or have a gluten intolerance you should avoid. I was given a lunch menu that classed the steak and chips as gluten free, I asked the waiter about other options on the menu, such as gammon and chips, to be told that the gluten free indication was a typo and the chips had wheat in. Given the severity of intolerance for people, myself included, I found it to be a complete lack of awareness and a lack of client care. I’m glad I asked as I was going to order it which would have made me ill. Although members of my party who had no intolerances did enjoy their meal, albeit late coming out of the kitchen, I chose to not eat anything. I wasn’t told of any options for me and could only see one option on the small plates. I was extremely disappointed with the Kirkfield for their complete inconsideration and lack of care.
