The Lab at Armens Barrels

The flavor of my American burger was awesome! I have to do gluten-free and got no bun with risotto. Awesome meal! The wine was great, Melbourne, the chocco lotto martini was incredible!

Serendipity led us to "The Lab" while passing through on our way across country. Suffice to say this will be our go to twice a year when staying overnight in Washington PA. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the service to the food. A relaxed atmosphere, (we were worried that we hadn't gotten dressed up) made us feel perfectly at home, and well taken care of. Mindi our server was joyful, and her service was perfect- and I mean perfect-she was busy, but never in the weeds, took time without being overbearing, and laughed with us. We both had the chicken Masala- flavorful, tender chicken, with a light masala sauce and fresh mushrooms cooked perfectly, green beans were the seasonal veg- accompanied by the best risotto we've ever eaten! The Caesar salad was simple, fresh and delicious, and the crab cake was out of this world! The Cabernet, made in house was delightful, a hint of barrel smoke, with great bright notes, dry and very very drinkable! We purchased a bottle to take home! The gluten free options were plentiful- and well marked- and as a gf eater this was really appreciated! Desserts were chocolate mousse- clearly a high quality chocolate is used, the rich flavor was the perfect end to a perfect meal- and the NY cheesecake with the bourbon cherries was "the best cheese cake" my husband has ever eaten! Several wines, as well as liquor are made in house- clearly Armen has a talent, and loves to have you at the tasting window to let you try his creations! If you find yourself in Washington PA- head over to this beautifully appointed ex skating rink- you will not be sorry!!
