As a person with Celiac disease it is not my choice to not eat gluten. I sat down and asked for the gluten free menu, I was happy with their selection as they have quite a few options. As always with my disease I spoke to the waiter and asked whether all the food was cooked separately as cross contamination does unfortunately make me sick. The waiter went to the kitchens to ask for me and told me that everything was cooked separately. Therefore I was happy to continue my order.
I was about halfway through my burger when suddenly I became extremely nauseous. By the time I got home I had to go straight to bed. I was sick for three days due to what I assume was cross contamination. I know it may be difficult or annoying to take those extra steps to ensure cross contamination doesn’t happen but I would’ve appreciated if the restaurant was just honest and told me that they can’t be 100% sure that cross contamination won’t happen. That way I can just skip out on the meal and avoid being sick.
It definitely wasn’t the servers fault. But this restaurant is not celiac friendly
