The Last Page

Absolutely terrible experience. It started fine until the food came out. The waiter was nice. But there was definitely a lack of communication in the restaurant with the staff. There were 5 of us but only 4 plates came out. I ordered steak and eggs. Our waiter came by about 10 mins after the others received their food and said he would check in the kitchen to see what happened. Another waiter dropped off donuts we didn’t order without saying a word to our table. So we thought it was a mistake. Our waiter finally comes back after another 10 mins and says they are still working on it. He said the donuts were from the kitchen since my steak was taking too long. But I’m gluten free which the waiter wrote on my ticket for the kitchen so I couldn’t even have the donuts. Since the person who dropped them off said literally nothing, they warm donuts were not warm by the time the waiter came back to tell us they were ours. Another 10 mins pass and I finally get my steak and eggs. Naturally everyone else is practically done eating. The steak was medium and not well done as I asked but I still ate it because my party was ready to go. My friend asked what could be done for the inconvenience (I was in the bathroom when he asked) and he was told the manager would come over. Well the manager didn’t and when I got back the waiter said the only thing they can say is sorry. We kept going back and forth delivering messages between the waiter and manager until I said , I want the manager to come to the table. His name was Kevin. He was so rude to me from the beginning. I was shocked. I disturbed him for whatever he was doing and made to feel that way with his attitude. It was not like it was busy because there were only 3 other tables with people. Kevin told me that there was nothing to be done and would not even admit to their mistake or apologize for it. He then brought up the free donuts and I told him about my dietary restriction. He made a face and finally said he’d give me 20% off my bill. I was fine with the 20% because I did eat the meal (which was mediocre). But this review is because the entire experience was horrible. I didn’t do anything wrong, but I felt he was trying to make me feel like I was at fault somehow. Customer service is absolutely lacking. It was so obvious that I was inconvenienced and my entire party because the kitchen forgot to cook my food. The waiter knew and the kitchen did too. And ultimately, Kevin knew as well, but handled it very poorly. He either needs more training or should not be in a manager position. My friends were appalled and I was too. I will never go there again.

Great service. Great food. Gluten free options. Cozy atmosphere. A solid option for food. Some unique menu combinations. The pork belly appetizer was ridiculous. The carrot cake dessert was gluten free and worth it.
