The Legendary Monarch Public House

What a treasure! We didn't eat or drink, but came to explore. This is a place full (literally floor to ceiling) of unique pieces of history. The bartender even put on his Irish accent to give us some fun insights. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was too busy listening to the storytelling. Definitely worth checking out! Also, an incredible bonus - they have several gluten free options for those who need to avoid wheat, barley and other gluten grains. Amazing!

Don't miss out on a magical Irish experience in this quaint Mississippi river city along Wisconsin’s Great River Road. Restoring and preserving this beautiful historic treasure (1894) is a soulful passion for proprietors John and Lori Harrington. Be prepared to be greeted with a gracious warm welcome by John, a quintessential Irishman/story teller or by by a welcoming attentive bartender. While the historical and antique majesty of the Monarch Public House is reason enough for a stop and tour, the authentic and delicious Irish food (much of which is naturally gluten free) prepared by Lori brings my family back time and time again despite the drive. A full bar with a fine selection of Irish whiskeys and beers or equally worthy of imbibing is any of the original recipe Fountain City Brewing Company beers on tap: Fountain Brew Gold Lager, Crystal Springs Nitro Stout, John Robert Porter, Harrington’s Irish Red Ale, Prairie Moon Red Lager, Eagle Valley Harvest Gold. This is not for those looking for a quick hit, in and out, fast food experience. The beautiful Legendary Monarch Public House and authentic Irish experience is worthy of lingering, savoring and taking in the full experience. Slàinte Mhaith.
