The Malt Shovel

We arrived early but our table was ready. We sat beside a massive log burner. The waitress was lovely, full of friendly banter and kindness. The mulled wine was delicious. I'm gluten free, which really wasn't an issue for the team. I had sea bass fillet on a bed of creamy mashed potato with lemon sauce. For of us ordered this and loved it. My son had fish and chips which he devoured. There were treats for the dog, baby changing facilities and a high chair, so we were well catered for. My only criticism would be my family for not wanting a dessert. Pah. Massive thanks to the team.

Went out for a family meal as recommended. Read lots of reviews and after going, am mystified by some of the 2 star reviews - were you actually in the same place?? Did not disappoint at all. Bearing in mind the Covid restrictions, tables were well spaced out, large tented area shielded from wind by bales (genius idea!!). Food arrived promptly, coeliac in party was fully catered for, including gluten free bread and butter. Portions aren’t small, so make sure you’re hungry!! Well kept Theakstons Best (always a good marker), left feeling well fed and watered. Can’t wait to go back. Thoroughly recommended. 10/10
